Dear Friends Here's a short interview
with Sebastian about The Sonneteer, which gives you a good
idea of what the play is about and how it's going to tell the story of
this most personal of Shakespeare's works and its endlessly fascinating
characters. And here, by way
of a taster, really, is our first teaser-trailer,
which tells you nothing about the play, but does give you a bit of a
flavour of one of the most famous sonnets of them all: Shall I
Compare Thee to a Summer's Day.
Obviously, the
best place to see us is at the biggest arts festival the world has to
offer, but if you're not going to go up to Edinburgh, you can also
catch one of our two London
Previews. Ticket availability for these is
already limited, so please do book yours now: they're only a tenner
(plus a one pound booking fee). Finally though, if you can't make it to
either, then all is not lost, because thanks to our entirely unique Give
a Seat / Take a Seat scheme, you can send somebody who otherwise could ill
afford to go to the theatre to do so on your behalf. It's a
super-simple 'pay-forward' scheme that allows generous minded people
like you to spread the love, helps us build an audience and opens up a
theatre experience to those who find ticket prices a struggle:
everybody wins. (Alternatively, you may, of course, just opt to make a
simple donation,
if you like.) So we very much
look forward to seeing many of you either at the Landor, or up in
Edinburgh: we'll be hanging about after the show, so come and talk to
us and tell us what you make of our take on William Shakespeare and his
wonderful Sonnets!
With lots of love
and sending splendid Summer Solstice vibes |

What drove the celebrated poet, playwright and
actor to write a suite of sonnets about beauty, life and the passage of
time and address them to a handsome young man? Obsession? Folly?
Infatuation? Or was there more than meets the eye today?
